My thoughts on drug traffiking and Nigerians
On the international scene, Nigeria is becoming so popular that, we are always having our own share of the good and the bad publicity being given by the international communities.
Nigeria is like a beautiful ageless bride, which everybody wanted be to associated with, because the more its grows the more beautiful it becomes. The bride is maturing everyday and it is the maturity that is sharpened by the ruggedness of its citizens who refused to be moved in face of a raging storms that comes in the form of bad publicity, image dis-configuration and sometimes bad leadership.
Even every crime committed on the international scene, without a very deep enquiries and investigations is now being linked to Nigeria. merely looking at what is published in the Sierra Leone Awareness Times , connotes that the dog is being given the bad name in order to crucify it. It is now very for a lazy policeman or an idle journalist to pinpoint any Nigerian as a criminal.
In a situation like this, as reported HERE, I believe a corrupt legal system is an open way to a corrupt government. If the police cannot investigate the issue of a cocaine that miraculously turned to foofoo or powdered cassava on the presentation as an exhibit in the court of law, then it is serious matter that needs very serious intellectual approach, even an immediate overhauling of the entire judicial process.
In Nigeria, drug trafficking has been reduced to the barest minimum, I am suggesting that Sierra Leone law and drug enforcement body should come to Nigeria a first hand training in law enforcement and implementation.
Sanity, they say begin at home, this is why the Nigerian government have an effective body like NAFDAC, NDLEA, EFCC, ICPC and hosts of others and all this are in a bid to sanitise the already bastardised image of the Nigerians in diaspora.
